At Medical Simulator, we are committed to providing educators and healthcare professionals with the most advanced and innovative simulation-based training technologies. Our goal is to deliver the best training to enhance healthcare through the acquisition of technical skills, teamwork abilities, and decision-making capacity. Innovation is part of our DNA, as reflected in our motto “Innovation in Education,” a strong commitment to taking medical learning to the next level.
This culture of innovation has led us to develop, in collaboration with Vall d’Hebron and the Eurecat technology center, Winco USG, a high-precision simulator designed to teach how to perform ultrasound-guided punctures. This innovative device was conceived by Dr. Xavier Serres, interventional radiologist at the Imaging Diagnostic Service at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and principal investigator of the Molecular Medical Imaging group at Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR).
“Winco USG is a new technological platform, unique in the world, that allows learning how to perform ultrasound-guided punctures with millimetric precision, in real-time and with infinite possibilities, without the need for an ultrasound machine,” says Dr. Serres.
The system behind Winco USG offers great versatility in various healthcare fields. On the one hand, this simulator can support training in a wide range of medical specialties that use minimally invasive ultrasound-guided interventional procedures, such as biopsies, drainages, nerve block anesthesia, tumor treatments guided by ultrasound, amniocentesis, and more. Additionally, Winco USG provides the opportunity to assess the quality of the procedure and the level of skill acquisition before performing punctures on patients.
Winco USG joins the Winco product family, which until now has focused on learning techniques for laparoscopy.
