Hybrids VITA VR
Digital solution for ECMO training in a virtual environment.
Hybrids VITA VR is a digital solution that enables students to train in clinical decision-making regarding an ECMO patient from any device and location. Students access a virtual room where a scenario unfolds and interact with a digital twin of an ECMO patient to address the clinical complications programmed by an instructor. Among many other features, Hybrids VITA VR allows training in cannulation strategies, optimization of mechanical ventilation parameters, reactions to hemorrhages or gas embolisms, and responses to oxygenation issues in the ECMO circuit lines.


Hybrids Vita Replica
Designed for scenarios without a real ECMO machine.
Hybrids VITA Réplica is a simulated ECMO machine that allows for the development of ECMO simulation scenarios in the absence of a real ECMO machine. It features two available skins that replicate the interfaces of the two main commercial ECMO machines on the market, ensuring the fidelity of the scenario and facilitating the transfer of skills acquired during training. Hybrids VITA Réplica simplifies scenario preparation since it operates fluid-free, and it democratizes simulation-based ECMO training by eliminating the costs associated with using a real ECMO machine for training purposes.
Hybrids VITA High Fidelity
Advanced ECMO simulator
Hybrids VITA High Fidelity is an advanced simulator designed for creating high-fidelity scenarios for patients on ECMO. Based on ELSO guidelines, the simulator has been developed to train for the main complications of an ECMO patient in the most realistic manner. By connecting to any ECMO machine, it allows for the modification of flows and pressures, simulation of gas embolisms and hemorrhages, and adjustment of oxygenation in the ECMO circuit lines. Hybrids VITA High Fidelity enables the training of complete scenarios, as it includes a patient monitor that integrates hemodynamic, neurological, and mechanical ventilation monitoring. With its compact and wireless design, it is ideal for training transport scenarios.
Developed by Medical Simulator, under the scientific leadership of Dr. Jordi Riera, researcher of the Vall d’Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR) “Shock, Organic Dysfunction and Resuscitation” group and intensivist physician of the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron and Director of the Adult ECMO Program at this institution.
